The following circuit is an AC Cable detector, which serves well when AC cables are behind
sheetrock and cannot be easily found. This circuit works with a plate of metal which picks
up any electromagnetic field generated by the AC current.D2 LED will indicate the presence
of an AC field. This circuit was simulated with a spice program ( ICAP/4 from Intusoft )
(www.intusoft.com). The AC and transient analysis are shown below.
